red_place #2

I'm gonna live in UK in 4-5 days, so there won't be much art around for the next few weeks.
I'm also going to open a more professional website, for exhibition purposes; this blog's gonna stay open though, so feel free to pop around anytime!

How to enjoy DATA articles?

As I'm trying to experiment a bit, you may stumble upon a few strange artworks, as my DATA pieces; they might look strange and/or worthless to you.
Or you might be intrigued and wish to understand them.
When I tried to approach the world of theoretical physic, one notion rocked my understanding of the world : matter can and is interpretted as information.
Particles, for instance, are reduced to what we can grasp of them : a set of data -- like quantum numbers.

Shown above are displayed the same set of information, using three different methods of encryption (fairly simple ones).
Each technique used has it's ups and downs; some are more visually entertaining, others more clear, and some are just downright confusing. But all represent the same set of information (which in the displayed example is random).
This technique of "disguising informations in an infinite number of outfits" is broadly used in artistic medias; just not as plainly.

So why?
Why breaking from the original form of art to display some sort of confusing source code?
Because I deeply think that information as a hidden beauty.
The same beauty we can see when confronted with foreign calligraphy; we then do not foccus our eyes on the meaning of the presented words, but on their shapes and aesthetic properties
The same process applies here.
A meaning exist behind every piece as well, it's not just a beauty contest for letters (if it was, the letter "w" would easily win each time... I mean, come on).

Soyez "in", que diable !

I've been playing a LOT of DOOM lately.
Curiously, I've never played it until recently, since I've always prefered Duke Nukem 3D at the time.
But DOOM being such a prevalent exemple in the video game field, I've figured I should give it a try.

So I played and finished DOOM 1&2, and I'm preparing myself to dive into the astonishing world of DOOM WADS (it's basically DOOM levels made by fans, fyi).

Just to say that since the most important parts of the DOOM serie (for me, of course) are the strange mood and settings where they took place, and the oddness of every encountered situation, I might make a few more piece like the one seen above.

The story of Doom Guy is as strange as what drives the player through the game; it's an alienating dream that makes you tumble again and again from absurd wars to incoherent scenery.

LANDSCAPE #3 & #4 and so on.

Lucky you, I got some free time today, enough to make these.
It's done using Paint and a freaking mouse, so if it's messy around the edge sometimes (like in the "guy with his balloon" picture), it's not my fault, I'm merely the instrument of what my right hand can translate -with a bloody mouse- of the Never Ending Big Chant of the Universe.

Every complains about the abstractness of the aforementionned landscapes must be delivered at this adress :

Sr. NEVER ENDING CHANT Universe Ulysses
3941 The Inexorable Progression of Time Road
                         WORLD#A38C22-5                   MILKY WAY

LANDSCAPE (#1 & #2)

Just a couple of landscapes made with the Paint (yes, the integrated software developped by Windows. These is actually a buttload of things you can do with that little piece of shit of a software!)

On the news side, my comic book is slowly but steadily progressing (it's called OKx2 btw), as I now reach the enormous (for me) milestone of 50 pages (approximately the middle of the story), so that's why I wasn't very active for a while.

I getting myself used to a brand new medium that I plan to use on the sequel of OKx2.
I've never tried that one so it might take a while to get acclimated to it, if I even make a sequel at all -since OKx2 was meant to be a stand-alone. Nonetheless, I feel that it could really add something to the visual, since this medium was never (as I know of) used in a comic book, and since it's closely related to the story so far then... why not.

I'll try to post a few things here and there from times to times, like some other landscapes if I have time to do them.

And I'll of course keep you posted with some pictures and other video teasers from OKx2.
Like any of you cares, right? ;)
